LASER HAIR REMOVAL

The laser hair removal process delivers energy to the bulge of the hair follicle preventing future re-growth of the hair. This procedure will reduce hair removal activities, such as shaving or plucking, and reduce rashes or bumps typically associated with hair removal.

How long does it last?
There is no way to permanently remove hair, although this procedure provides permanent hair reduction. The process causes less hair to grow back in, and when it does, the hair is thinner and less noticeable to the naked eye.

How many treatments do I need?
Hairs naturally grow in six week cycles. The different patterns of growth require at least five treatments that are spaced six weeks apart to allow maximum permanent hair reduction. Each treatment will reduce hair volume by 1/3. Five treatments are usually required for optimum results though each treatment typically provides a noticeable difference.

Can you remove my hair if I have dark skin?
The Cutera laser has a 1064nm wavelength and is safe and effective on all skin types and conditions. The hair removal does not cause any skin discoloration that would effect darker skin.

Can I have this done if I have light hair?
This procedure is meant to reduce dark, unwanted noticeable hair. We find hair that is white, gray or fine blond is more difficult to treat effectively by any method, and results vary between patients.

Does it hurt?
The laser treats the hair at the root, but does not injure the skin. You may experience a tingly sensation during the procedure. Discomfort will vary between patients. Topical anesthetics are available to our patients.
